For the third time in eight weeks, the New York Red Bulls are set to face off against the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium – this time, in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinal.

The Dynamo earned their spot defeating the Montreal Impact in their MLS Playoff play-in match 3-0 in a physical, chippy encounter at BBVA. Will Bruin scored a brace to power Houston to the next round.

Both teams faced off just eleven days ago, with Tim Cahill’s now infamous eight second goal leading New York to three points on the road in a dominant 3-0 victory over the Orange. A month earlier, the Red Bulls captain Thierry Henry scored the game winner in another route, this time a 4-1 demolition of the Dynamo.

The Red Bulls also beat Houston 2-0 at Red Bull Arena earlier in the year.

Up until this year, New York never achieved victory at Houston during the regular season. Now, they are 2-3-4 against the Dynamo all-time on the road.

Last these two teams faced in the playoffs, Dane Richards led an assault on the Dynamo as New York beat the Orange on the road 3-0 to advance to the Conference Finals (the Red Bulls tied the first home leg 1-1).

The Eastern Conference Semifinal begins this Sunday at 3 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium.
