Newcastle are in search of a new right back as Mathieu Debuchy looks set for an Arsenal switch.

It appears the Magpies have found just what they were looking for.

The club is on the verge of completing a deal for Daryl Janmaat. The defender was recently playing with the Netherlands in the World Cup and was a member of Feyenoord. According to Sky Sports, the 24-year-old is in Newcastle to undergo a medical.

The signing of Janmaat bodes well for the Gunners. When the signing is official and the ink on the contract is dry, Debuchy’s departure should come soon after.

The Dutch defender will not join up for the club’s preseason trip to New Zealand, instead taking a vacation after finishing third in the World Cup.  He has spent his entire career to date in the Netherlands playing with ADO Den Haag and Herenveen before his most recent stint with Feyenoord. Janmaat has  21 caps to his name in a Dutch shirt.

Getting Their Mark

Luis Suarez may have left, but Liverpool should still have a young, potent attack force. With Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling on the books, and Rickie Lambert added this summer, now Lazar Markovic looks the next signing for the Reds.

The 20-year-old was in Liverpool on Monday to complete his medical before making the move complete from Benfica, says the Daily Mail.

The Serbian international, who has scored twice in 12 appearances, began his career at  Partizan Belgrade, playing for two seasons. At Benfica, he scored five goals in 28 appearances in his lone season in Portugal.

Liverpool, who have also signed Adam Lallana and Emre Can, could very well make a few more signings before the window is over.

Transfer Chatter

1. Napoli looking to Michu– When Michu first arrived with Swansea, he was an instant hit. After injury struggles limited him amid a poor season from the Swans, the Spanish striker could be set for a move. Napoli and manager Rafael Benitez are keen on a move, but possibly on a year-long loan before a permanent switch after the injury-plagued season. 2. Not so Vidal– Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal is highly regarded, but it appears Luis van Gaal is calling off the pursuit. With Manchester United looking to bolster their midfield options, Vidal would have provided box-to-box midfield play. However, the Red Devils are set to look in a different direction. 3. Mangala for Manchester City?– Manchester City are looking to add to the squad that won the Barclays Premier League last year with a vital piece at the back. Eliaquim Mangala is their reported target, possibly to replace Martin Demichels, who received his fair share of criticism last term, in the starting lineup. The 23-year-old was reportedly photographed in Manchester with a City official, adding fire that the deal may already be agreed in principle. (From the Guardian)

4. Gunning to add more in Chambers– Arsenal, needing to replace Bacary Sagna at right back, are near a deal for Mathieu Debuchy. They may also be in the hunt for  Southampton defender Calum Chambers. The young right back would be competition for Debuchy and a longer term option with current deputy right back possibly making a switch to Newcastle. (From the Daily Star)

5. Another pair of safe hands in the Arsenal?– The Gunners, who lost Lukasz Fabianski on a free transfer, are looking to add a more experienced back up to Wojciech Szczesny. That could come in the form of Colombian keeper David Ospina as terms with French club Nice appear to be complete. (From Metro)
