New York Red Bulls standout Matt Miazga has long been connected and rumored for a move abroad.

However, it seems that move won’t be coming any time soon.

Red Bulls Sporting Director Ali Curtis and Head Coach Jesse Marsch addressed media at the MLS SuperDraft, updating the status of their star centerback.

“Right now, Matt is on our team,” Marsch said. “There have been potential discussions about Matt moving forward, but I don’t think anything even close to concrete.

“As of right now, I see him being a Red Bull in 2016.”

Curtis was even more emphatic about Miazga’s Red Bull status. “He is on our roster!” he said, repeating, “He is on our roster. And he is at National Team camp. So that is where we are with that. He is under contract until the end of the year.”

Miazga enjoyed a standout season with the Red Bulls in 2015. As an integral part of the Supporters’ Shield winning side, the Polish American defender logged 2,128 minutes, earning 24 starts in 26 appearances, adding a goal and an assist to his ledger. He also made his U.S. Men’s National Team debut on November 15th, debuting against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
