Could NYCFC be close to landing its third and final designated player?
According to www.mcfcwatch.com, Manchester City’s January deadline-day signing Yangel Herrera is set to join New York City FC this transfer window to further his development under Coach Patrick Vieira.
Herrera was initially signed by Manchester City on the final day of the European transfer wWindow for an estimated fee of about £1.7 million ($3 million).
Having already earned an international cap for his native Venezuela, the 19-year-old defensive midfielder was said to have caught the eye of scouts during his impressive performance in 2017 South American Youth Football Championship.
There was a bit of confusion after Herrera’s transfer to City. It was not clear whether Manchester City or City Football Group made the purchase. The door seemed to have opened for NYCFC because of Herrera’s difficulty obtaining a British work permit.
Conexion Goledora has reported that Herrera will remain in Venezuela for the next couple of days to complete paperwork before his move to NYCFC.
