NYCFC schedule breakdown for 2016

The MLS schedule for 2016 is in, and there are plenty of fixtures to look forward to.

New York City FC will play two of its three Hudson River Derby matches against the New York Red Bulls on broadcast television.

The first and third meetings between the two teams will be on FOX with NYCFC hosting the first game in the season series on May 21 at 3 pm. The third meeting at Red Bull Arena will be on July 24 at 1 pm. The two teams will also meet on July 3 at Yankee Stadium. That game will be broadcast on ESPN.

NYCFC will start its season on the road at the Chicago Fire on March 6 which will be the debuts for both team’s head coaches, Patrick Vieira and Veljko Paunovic. The team then has four consecutive home games against Eastern Conference opponents. NYCFC are scheduled to play the Red Bulls, Fire, Columbus Crew SC, DC United, New England Revolution and Orlando City SC three times.

All of NYCFC’s Western Conference away games will be nationally televised. They will travel to the MLS Cup holders, Portland Timbers, May 15 on FS1. They will visit the Seattle Sounders June 25 on ESPN, Sporting Kansas City July 10 on FS1, the San Jose Earthquakes August 5 on Unimas and the Houston Dynamo Sept. 30 on FS1.

NYCFC will have half of its matches broadcast on national television. Seven games will be on FOX or FS1. ESPN will broadcast five games, ESPN 2 will broadcast one. Univision and Unimas will also broadcast four matches.

NYCFC ends its season at home against the Crew on October 23rd.
