No loan for Jefferson Mena

Barcelona S.C. vice president Alfaro Moreno may have jumped the gun.

EoS has learned that New York City FC have not finalized any agreement with Barcelona in regards to a loan deal for defender Jefferson Mena and that discussions were still ongoing as of earlier this week. Moreno had announced yesterday that Mena would join the Ecuadorian champions on a season-long loan with an option to buy but Mena remains with NYCFC.

For the moment, the plan is for Mena to join the squad for preseason training in a couple of weeks.

City interested in Miguel Camargo

EoS is also able to confirm reports from Panama of NYCFC’s interest in Miguel Camargo.

Camargo is a 23-year-old attacking midfielder who scored 12 goals in 32 appearances for Mineros de Guayana in Venezuela last year. No agreement has been finalized but Camargo’s representatives did meet with NYCFC during the holiday. City identified the Panamanian as one of their transfer targets.

It remains unclear whether Camargo would arrive on a permanent deal or on a loan from Chorillo FC who still hold his contract and ITC.
