One day before they take the field for their first game in the 2016 USL season, New York Red Bull II made a key signing in the forward position by bringing in Jamaican forward Junior Flemmings.

The 20 year-old native of Kingston Jamaica played two seasons with the Red Stripe Premier League side Tivoli Gardens FC. During that time he scored ten goals with the team finishing fifth and sixth in the two seasons he played. A product of the Tivoli youth system, Flemmings played for the U-13, U-15, U17 and U21 levels on his way into a professional career. He also trialed with the first team Red Bulls last season.

This latest addition adds a second USL signed striker to the mix with Sefano Bonomo being the other. MLS draft pick Brandon Allen may play the lead striker position as he did during the Red Bull II preseason game, but this new signing throws many questions on the table in regards to the team’s long term tactical plan.

There is no word yet on whether or not Flemmings will be a part of the roster for tomorrow’s game. However, it may take time to get him accustomed to his new surroundings.
