Official: NYCFC unveil away kit

NYCFC away kit

Their first kit release left New York City FC on the defensive, with fans and media alike calling the Manchester City-esque home shirt to task.

That won’t be a problem with their road gear.

Following an untimely leak on EA Sports’ FIFA 15 title, NYCFC have decided to pull the curtain back early on their away kit, unveiling the design through Twitter late Monday afternoon:

The offering is a far more robust and unique shirt than it’s home counterpart. The black shirt is accented with five vertical lines across the chest — one for each borough. “City Blue” accents adorn the shoulders, sleeves and the bottom cut of the jersey.

What makes this jersey truly unique, however, are the orange accents smattered throughout the design. An orange NYC interlocking monogram on the black background of the shirt offers a feel much like the New York Giants of baseball’s golden age. An orange design at the point of the collar brings the third color to a central focus. The inaugural season patch is also in orange, located on the bottom left of the shirt.

According to the team Twitter account, shirts will be made available for sale in early 2015.

    Look at that shirt
    It really is a pity
    That’s not New York’s team
    They’re just 2nd rate City!
