Red Bull USL Pro opener reveals clue to possible home venue

The New York Red Bulls are set to begin their journey into USL Pro. The only questions that remain are where the team will play and what they will be called.

One of those questions may have already been answered.

USL Pro followed Major League Soccer’s precedence, unveiling the league’s season opening matches prior to revealing the entire list of fixtures for the year. Therein, the Red Bulls’ USL Pro side will open their season with a match against the Rochester Rhinos on March 28th — in Harrison, New Jersey.

A previous report on EOS cited a source revealing either Red Bull Arena or Columbia’s Baker Field as the home venue for the USL Pro club. While not specifically naming Red Bull Arena, there is no other location in Harrison that meets USL Pro requirements for a league venue.

Rochester then hosts Red Bull for their home opener on Sunday, April 24th, meaning New York will be playing host through most of their first month of action.

In other news, NYCFC affiliate Wilmington Hammerheads will host the Richmond Kickers on March 28th.
