Lloyd Sam isn’t the only New York Red Bulls player heading to Washington D.C. this week.

Canada’s Benito Floro has called in Karl Ouimette for this Tuesday’s encounter against Ghana — the very team that has recently called in both New York City FC player Kwadwo Poku and Ouimette’s teammate, Lloyd Sam.

Ouimette, 23, has earned 11 caps for the national team, adding an assist to his ledger. He has played 11 matches for the Red Bulls this season and six more for the Red Bulls reserve team. While at Red Bulls II, Ouimette managed a brace to keep the USL side in the playoff mix, advancing to the conference semi-finals. He is also the first ever homegrown player in the history of the Montreal Impact.

A Floro favorite, Ouimette will likely get minutes for Canada against a new-look Ghana side as the Canadian National Team vet options for their coming World Cup qualifiers.

Ouimette will return to the Red Bulls on Wednesday ahead of their clash against Toronto FC at BMO Field.
