With the international break looming, U.S National Team players overseas participated in their final club matches before the week-long break.

A plethora of Americans provided scoring opportunities for their clubs. Goals? Not so much. Although many assists were tallied, only one American scored over the weekend.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle United): The 23-year-old Seattle native has enjoyed a successful 2016 campaign with English side Newcastle United. Yedlin has continued to grow at an impressive rate under Rafa Benitez, demonstrating his offensive ability with the assist below. Cutting inside and sending Gouffran towards the goal, Yedlin helped create the match-winning goal for Newcastle.

Christian Pulisic (BVB Dortmund): The 18-year-old American prodigy has continued to generate stats in Germany. Starting in Dortmund’s weekend smash over Hamburg, Pulisic was able to provide an assist for Gambian striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Timothy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt): Under criticism for his weak international play, Chandler has shown why he deserves to remain in Klinsmann’s squad. The 26-year-old defender provided the one and only goal in Frankfurt’s 1-0 win against 1. FC Koln, assisting Mijat Gacinovic’s match-deciding goal.

Andrew Wooten (SV Sandhausen): Continuing to perform week-in-and-week-out, SV Sandhausen striker Andrew Wooten tallied both a goal and an assist over the weekend. Defeating 1860 Munich 3-2, Wooten earned the game’s Player of the Match award.

UNDER THE RADAR:

Cole Grossman (Stabaek IF): With the Tippeligaen season under wraps, American Cole Grossman assisted one of Stabaek’s three goals on the weekend. The former Columbus Crew and Real Salt Lake midfielder has continued to start every week for his Norwegian club; however, Stabaek found themselves finishing only two spots ahead of the last place in the league.

Gboly Ariyibi (Chesterfield FC): Alrington, Virginia native Gboly Ariyibi has made a name for himself with Chesterfield FC. The 21-year-old midfielder has exploded while with the third division English club.
