Breathe easy, Red Bull fans — your backline is healthier than you think.

In an early morning conference call with Red Bull beat reporters, New York head coach Jesse Marsch gave an optimistic health prognosis on both injured defenders Damien Perrinelle and Kemar Lawrence.

“It’s a little early to tell, but I would guess — I would hope — [Lawrence] and Damien would be available for Sunday,” Marsch said. “They are both minor [injuries], but in both cases, given the schedule coming up, we wanted to be a bit more cautious.

“Both should recover on time.”

Perrinelle was a late scratch for this weekend’s Philadelphia Union encounter, suffering what the club labeled a “hamstring injury.” Traditionally a left fullback, Roy Miller slotted alongside Karl Ouimette at centerback, suffering several lapses on the backline. Kemar Lawrence fell to a similar injury in game. His performances have been a bright spot for the club all season long, lending a significant scare to the Red Bulls backline . French veteran Ronald Zubar continues to be out injured and Matt Miazga is with Tab Ramos and the U.S. Men’s U-20 team for the U-20 World Cup.

New York head to Seattle this weekend to take on the Sounders.
