There was no second half resurgence that has been the status quo of the Bob Bradley regime. There was no tactical adjustment to tilt the momentum in favor of the U.S. There wasn’t even a substitution that helped spark the team forward. Yes, the United States has been crippled with injuries and the like, but that hasn’t stopped the scrutiny of Bob Bradley’s position as head coach of the Men’s National Team.
Just before we entered the knockout rounds of the Gold Cup, Empire of Soccer put up a poll asking you what the future of Bob Bradley should be. By nearly 50%, you voted to fire the coach if this team did not win the Final.
Well, here we are. And I want your thoughts and opinions. Take a vote and tell us: Should Bob Bradley Be Fired?

If they move on from Bradley, just don’t leave him hanging in the wind like after the World Cup. Have a plan, execute it.
At this point we’re better off without a plan and no head coach than continuing with Bob Bradley for another day.
I’ve said it before, but I would absolutely love to have Marcelo Bielsa coaching this side. He is creative, his game is fluid and he would bring in a different mindset that this team so desperately needs.
Bob Bradley needs to go; there is no question about it. But much like underperforming Fortune 500 company, focusing on middle management is like changing the oil in an engine that won’t turnover.
Sunil Gulati is the problem; along with many other out-of-touch senior US Soccer executives. Conveniently for them, they hold the program reigns in a country who not long ago, had more interest in the WNBA then international soccer. Sorry Sunil, times have changed. Four days ago, Over forty-thousand fans attended a Thursday night, regular season MLS match in Seattle. When you know better, you do better. And the soccer intelligence of this great nation is rapidly achieving the necessary IQ to see you for what you are – a president unable to take us where we demand to go.
AMEN!!!
Exactly.
Fire Bob http://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-American-Soccer-Fire-Bob-Bradley/217998344900206
Bob Bradley, Please Man UP!! and Resign now!! This should finally prove the fact that BB can’t change or learn from his mistakes. BB why Bornstein? Was not his performance in the world cup enough to prove that Bornstein is not USMNT material. If BB do not resign or is fire, then it is time to go after Gulati’s head. I am so pissed that we lost to these Mexicans because they are not better than us but have a better coach!!!
usa need a new coach is realy bad lose in home shame bb please go home or get lost.
For me, it’s not that Bradley has underperformed – I think we’ve gotten out of him what we should have reasonably expected to get – but that it’s time we need a better plan for developing soccer in this country. We need better leadership at the top (USSF) and a foreign Director of Football who will manage the whole system for the long term. Hire Klinnsman to either run US Soccer and choose a coach to work under him, or to coach the team himself.
Bob bradley has done a lot for US soccer. We beat spain the number one team in the world and have had a lot of close games to the likes of brazil, and mexico. But the story is always the same, the US gets an early lead then gets burnt out and gets smashed by the other team. We need a coach who KNOWS a good defense. The US has a world class goalie, and a great offense, bt we need a coach who can finally tune up the defense of the US.
Wow, some of you on here really need a clue. The Mexican team was more athletic, has better touch on ball, and better all around players. Guys, you’re pinning the hopes of success for the entire team on one guy (Landon Donovan) from MLS, and a couple of internationals like Clint Dempsey and Freddy Adu (the latter is a dud). The rest are MLS players, and while you do have a star keeper, he is aging. Your talent pool is small, and no improvement in sight. And you want to sack the coach? Let’s spread the blame a little bit more. Yes, the coach is responsible, but so are the players on the pitch, as well as Sunil Gulati. The coach can only work with what he has, he can’t work miracles with old talent. The US does NOT have a good offense, and has no ball control in the midfield. Only long balls and corner kicks won’t win championships. Sorry.
hahaha, dude we get it, you are just a true soccer genius. bob needs the sac, and we need a european coach. so shut the fuck up and get a life
Intelligent response. Europe has all the answers. Well done.
Well, the fact is, in the gold cup game, the US was up 2-0… to not win and to blame the players afterwards is not fair to them. The game was lost because of poor adjustment by the coach. The Mexican team adjusted to the US defense but the US coach didn’t adjust. The US also did poorly at the last world cup and Bob needs to take some of the blame for that too (the team too) but the poor performance in the past few years and this game…he needs to go.
Did you not see the sea of white on the last goal?
The Us has young talent all over the world now and are doing great with their teams. Bradly should get sacked just that simple. he sees what he wants to see. gomez scores in mexico has great tocuh , buddle pl;ays in germany has a even better touch now. gringo torres is a mini xavi in mexico . Mikkel Diskerud has a very good touch and the list goes on. Bradly is using the same players and tactics he started with. the game is evolving again and he doesnt have the know how of how to keep up with that. its that simple, a euro or latin coach would do so much better than he can right now.
Well said. The US structure needs to be rebuilt. They need to go get a quality coach and the Federation should give him the latitude to do what he needs too.
we have athletes maurice edu , buddle , findley, omar, torres, wynne and those are just the guys that don’t started are not on the team . take out the guys who aren’t athletes put my guys in and we would win
Separate, but relevant managerial question to ask: should Hans Backe be fired? Both him and Bradley are in similar positions, with players not firing on all cylinders and overall letting down the fans, getting tactics wrong, etc. Historically, and in present day form, Mexico outclasses the US. Our boys have looked flat most of the Cup. Meanwhile, back at Red Bull camp, we’re one of the top squads (on paper) with considerable depth, yet we’ve had an atrocious streak of games go against us.
i said it after the loss to panama. i said it after the win over guadalupe. i said it after the win agains jaimaca, after the win against panama. now after a humiliating performace against mexico. bradley needs to go. he should have never been selected to begin with. during his tenure the USNMT has done the same things over and over. give up the ball to easily in the defensive half. fall behing and have to go into scramble mode. give up leads and lose the game. the definition of insane is doing the same think over and over and expect a different result. by this definition both bob bradley and the USSF are insane. the last good coach we had was bora militilivich (forgive my spelling bora) we need to go out and find another good coach.
Nothing personal against Bob but he aint the guy who is going to get us to the next level. In the five years or so he has been at the helm, the quality of play has diminished. I’m actually embarrassed most of the time at how the better teams make us look like amateurs. Why is it that every good team out hustles and out runs us. That’s not even about talent, that’s just conditioning and desire – no excuse in my book. Also, why can’t we work on the short, simple passed and back-heals that countries like Spain and Argentina use to perfection. Our guys pass the ball but then don’t immediately move forward into space to accept the give-and-go. Wingers run down the sideline and no one follows down the middle to create opportunities. I’m not a coach but there are so many glaring deficiencies between us and top teams that I hit myself over the head wondering if I am the only one who sees these things. Anyone concur?
The problem is simple. We have to stop thinking that US college players are going to be the answer to our problems. In other countries they have scouts that go out to inner cities where boys play 8 hours a day seven days a week. We have it backwards in this country. Only a three players should be on the US team right now Howard, Clint and Landon. The rest are ok players. I can go to the Central valley Fresno, Bakersfield, and these other cities and find 20 players that will make this team faster, technical, and actually have forwards that know how to score. Until Sunil, Bradley get fired and we change the way we look at soccer here we will never have a world cup and be a ok team.
Coach Bradley has done a ok job but he lacks the talent to go out and scout players. His own son should not be playing on this team. The kid cannot make a pass to save his life. We need good scouts that are willing to travel to find these kids. We have them but we need to look. I grew up in the country where we played soccer all the time. We had three players that can run circles around this current US team. I can coach this team and scout my own players and be better than Bradley since I understand the game and can make adjustments and coach it for much less that Bradley makes. I can go on on but this team will never win until they start making a sweep from the west coast to the east coast and find these kids that don’t have the exposure. I love the MLS and hope that they will get rid of the draft as well. In time I believe that the MLS will have great players that they raise. Fire Bradley, and the rest of the US soccer leadership.
The kids in other countries don’t play 8 hours a day, seven days a week stupid
…I go to Brazil all the time and actually, they do.
Mexico has a decent side, but to give up 4 goals is piss poor. After Bob Bradley’s poor decisions in the last world cup, he should have been sacked. I know that everybody remembers (at the last world cup) when Ricardo Clark made a huge mistake the led to a goal or atleast a good opportunity for the other team. Coach Bradley went on to play him the next game and Clark did the same thing and gave up the ball to the other team, and led to a goal….All on Bon Bradley there….. Another issue, Stuart Holden was at the World Cup, on our squad, but didn’t see much time. His ability to make dynamic crosses from the wing, and play tough defense should have given him a starting role in my opinion. That was poor coaching again. For the mostpart, we have decent players, yet we still lack creativity in the midfield and in the final third. By playing Freddy Adu, giving Stuart Holden more time, and putting players such as Clark, Kljesten, maybe even Bradleys son on the bench could lead to better results. Oh yeah, plus we still don’t have that great target striker. Bottom line is that we have ok players in the United States, but all of them aren’t getting a lot of time on the pitch at the same time. Last thing, getting the most out of our players defensively falls directly on the coaching staff, and the head coach first and foremost. Bradley needs to be sacked, and soon.
