A few interesting names have recently sprung up for the vacant Red Bulls head coaching slot. Some names have long been established as favorites for the job. Others have taken fans and observers alike by surprise.
With days remaining until the MLS Draft, New York will certainly be under the gun to find a viable coaching option for the coming season. Will the team finally come to terms with Gary McCallister? Does Tony Meola have the chops to take charge? Will they take a chance on Eric Wynalda? Or can they entice a seasoned pro like Owen Coyle to make the move?
I leave it in your hands. Below we have a poll including the above names and those who have also been mentioned over the past month; Steve Nichol (a Roxburgh acquaintance), Claudio Reyna (reported by Big Apple Soccer), Carlos Queiroz (who is interested in the spot but has not been formally contacted by the team) and of course Mike Petke, the current interim coach who very well could pull a Ryan Meara and be the default candidate.
Do none of them entice you? No worries – vote OTHER and tell us who you would like to see. We will publish some of the best offerings here.

.@NotHansBacke. “@EmpireOfSoccer: Poll: Who should coach #RBNY?: http://t.co/P3izKqEk #MLS”
I picked Stevie Nick,
He knows the league and more important HOW to win in the league.
It’s not his fault NE sold all there good players.
Bruce Arena
Wy-fricken-nalda!! What does this guy gotta do to prove he deserves a chance?
As long as it’s somebody with MLS experience. Enough of these euro monsters. I voted Petke because he’s a local guy who has a (very) long history with the club as a player and most recently as assistant coach.
Nichol with money behind him would makw him a powerful coach in this league. He got a lot out of the nickel and dime budget the Krafts saddled him with
