The U.S. is about to get a taste of Cristiano Ronaldo a bit sooner than expected.

This year’s Ballon D’or winner will lead Portugal to MetLife Stadium to face Ireland on June 10th – mere days from the World Cup.

The match will be Portugal’s final tune-up before heading to Brazil. Their U.S. tour begins June 6th at Foxboro, taking on regional powerhouse, Mexico, at Gillette.

It is an interesting choice of opposition for Portugal, who are likely just as interested in getting acclimated to the western time zone as they are facing relevant competition. Mexico will surely draw fans in Foxboro, mimicking what will likely be a tough atmosphere in Brazil, while Ireland, in some form, can be considered preparation for the U.S..

Portugal’s first World Cup encounter falls on the 16th against Germany. They face the U.S. on the 22nd and Ghana on the 26th.
