New York Red Bull II returns to Red Bull Arena to play Orlando City B on Friday night with another chance at first place in the Eastern Conference.

New York has been on the road for four of their last five games where they’ve not only kept pace with Conference leading Louisville City, but even leapfrogged them at point. Now, they have yet another chance to take first place against a dangerous Orlando City B team who has shown the ability to play up to their competition.

PROJECTED STARTING XI:

New York Red Bull II: Meara; Long, Carroll, Schmoll, Bilyeu; Williams, Metzger, Etienne Jr., Valot, Flemmings, Allen

Orlando City B: Ridgers; Turner, Redding, Donovan, Hayden, Laryea, Garcia, Higuita, Neal, Smith, Cox

Player to Watch: Junior Flemmings. Last week’s game against Harrisburg was a clinic in just how dangerous Flemmings can be. Often playing on the wing, Flemmings has proven to be a deadly service provider with four assists. He’s also been equally dangerous as a striker with five goals on the season and two in the last game against the City Islanders.

X-Factor: Loanees could be a factor. We’ve seen new players signed to the first team who may need a bit more time integrating into the system. No word has been given as to whether there will be any appearances but the roster shuffling has affected New York in the past.

New York rebounded last week from two straight losses with their biggest win in team history. This week, John Wolyniec hopes to keep his side focused — especially with experimentation of assisted video refereeing being on display.

Orlando City B cannot be underestimated. They are on a nine game unbeaten streak and forced a draw against NYRB II back on June 19th. Michael Cox will be the most dangerous weapon for Orlando as he has tallied eight goals this season. Tim Schmoll and Zach Carroll will be tested yet again in what should be an ultra competitive meeting on Friday night.
