Hill tops and valleys … many, many, many valleys.
That would best describe the enigma that is Rafa Marquez. For every red card, suspension or inane outburst, there was a brilliant performance, a majestic end to end assist and even, at times, a good teammate. Though the positives were usually short lived and sandwiched between controversy, it was certainly enough for many to believe that one day – one day – Rafa would turn it around.
That moment never happened and now, it never will. Instead, New York is left with a collection of dumbfounding incidents with sparse moments of brilliance sprinkled in between.
Marquez gave Red Bull fans many moments to remember – but most they probably wish they could forget. Here is a compilation of these moments which I will simply label “Rafa’s Greatest Hits.”
Feel free to contribute your moments as well on twitter or in the comments section. Who knows – I may just add them!

@EmpireOfSoccer Nice article. Fair and balanced. As for myself, HI-HO the wicked witch is dead. Good riddens too!
I guesss for me that the playoff red card this year was more painful than the one for dodgeball with Landon/being slapped by the wind. The one this year changed the momentum of a game in the balance, while the LA red card felt more like addition by subtraction. I would like to think that TH14 would hope for more than one defence-splitting assist per year from Rafa, but being president of the Rafa fan club did not allow him to be more public with some “helpful suggestions”. I hope that bringing Kaka or Juninho P would be a benefit that also draws more of the Harrison-Newark Brasilian fans.
Alleluiah praise The Lord Christmass is REAL!!!!!!
