Dax McCarty could make his return to the New York Red Bulls starting line-up this weekend against Toronto FC, according to head coach Jesse Marsch.

“Dax is really close,” said Marsch after training. “He won’t be available for Alianza but he should be ready by Sunday.”

The New York Red Bulls team captain has been sidelined with a groin injury after making a recovery from a leg fracture earlier in the season. He missed the teams 2-2 draw against DC United and his status for future games was also thrown into question. However Marsch feels confident about McCarty’s recovery.

Luis Robles, while not missing games from injury, has been banged up for a portion of the season. The 32-year-old has made 132 consecutive league starts for New York but has battled through knee issues which sprang up after the game against Vancouver several weeks ago.

“Luis is 100 percent or close to it,” said Marsch. “Overall, we’re getting healthy.”

Lastly, both Ronald Zubar and Omer Damari are still sidelined with their respective injuries. Zubar is a possibility for Sunday, according to the team, but Damari may need a bit more time to recover.

It’ll be really interesting to see who starts at Centerback this weekend with all the injuries and time logged by Collen who has been an absolute workhorse and arguably saved the Red Bulls season. Also will Felipe EVER get a rest? he is such a hard nosed fighter
