Major League Soccer has announced home openers for the 2017 season with the New York Red Bulls hosting the Colorado Rapids at Red Bull Arena on March 11th.

The beginning of the MLS season will be hectic for the team as they will be playing CONCACAF Champions League fixtures in late February and early March against the Vancouver Whitecaps. New York will also be welcoming one of the league’s newest teams, Atlanta United, one week prior to the home opener in a game in Mercedes-Benz Stadium on March 5th.

2017 will be the eighth season for New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena — a venue that has seen tremendous success for the team, including two Supporters Shield seasons and a USL Championship. Colorado Rapids have made five trips to Harrison, New Jersey and have yet to win in the Arena, with the Red Bulls taking two of the meetings and the rest being draws. Colorado had a fantastic season in 2016, finishing second in the Western Conference and acquiring major talent such as Tim Howard and Jermaine Jones.

The Red Bulls are taking a sparkling home record into 2017, having gone 13-2-2 last year on their way to a first place finish in the Eastern Conference.

The full season schedule will be released in January ahead of the MLS SuperDraft.
