Red Bull Arena (Finally) Hosts The U.S. Men’s National Team

After eighteen long months, the United States will finally host an international friendly at Red Bull Arena.

‘The Cathedral’ of American soccer will be the battle ground on October 11th when the U.S. takes on Ecuador, according to the U.S.S.F.. As reported on Empire last week, the Harrison/Kearny area, a historic breeding ground for American talent, has been all but ignored by the U.S. Soccer since the Arena’s inception last season. While many other soccer specific stadiums featured the U.S. early in their lifespan, Red Bull Arena has out waited them all, only rivaled by Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado.

Usually looked over for the larger (and more lucrative) Meadowlands Stadium, this match presents a unique opportunity for Red Bull Arena to show that the proper in game environment, with a soccer savvy crowd, can outweigh monetary concerns and contribute to a home field advantage which this team can, at times, sorely lack.

  • I can’t tell you how excited I am about this blatant cash grab now that it’s on our own turf.

    • I am right there with ya brother. It’s going to be a pleasure to cover this one … in our own backyard.
