CONCACAF announced that Red Bull Arena will host the opening double-header of the 2017 Gold Cup on Friday, July 7th. The competition will return to Red Bull Arena for the first time since the 2013 tournament.

The 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup will take place between July 7th and July 26th. The biannual competition between national teams in North American, Caribbean and Central American countries has taken place since 1991 and been hosted in the United States, at least partially, in each installment. Mexico has won the competition the most times with seven titles while the United States is in second with five.

Red Bull Arena has a history of hosting events other than New York Red Bull regular season games, including international friendlies, MLS All-Star games and both men and women’s National Team games. The announcement continues the expansion of usage at Red Bull Arena which has seen a spike since the club’s announced intention to have more external events.
