Red Bull II Advances to Conference Final

Red Bulls II logoNew York Red Bull II is one step, one win, one more road game, from playing to defend its United Soccer League title.

On Saturday night in St. Petersburg, Fla., the  No. 7-seeded Baby Bulls spotted the No. 3 Tampa Bay Rowdies a goal about a quarter hour into their Eastern Conference semifinal, tied the match on a goal by Stefano Bonomo in the 58th minute (from the penalty spot) then got another goal from the prolific striker early in extra time to advance, 2-1. Bonomo has scored three goals in the playoffs.

RB II will face top-seeded Louisville City at Louisville Slugger Field in Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 4, with a trip to the USL Cup final (the title game is scheduled to be played on Monday, Nov. 4 and will be televised on ESPNU). Louisville advanced after a 1-0 victory against No. 4 Rochester.

Tampa Bay was playing its first year in the USL after leaving the North American Soccer League after the 2016 season.
