New York Red Bulls winger Daniel Royer will be out of action for some weeks according to his Instagram post.

The 26-year-old Austrian winger had just recently broken into the first team, usurping Mike Grella. He found immediate success with a game winning goal against Montreal last week.

An official statement from the team as to how long he will be out is still pending but based on his own information, it appears he will be out for several weeks.

New York has been battling a rash of injuries this season including knocks to Gonzolo Veron, Gideon Baah, Kemar Lawrence, Dax McCarty, Ronald Zubar and Damien Perrinelle. Royer’s absence is particularly concerning, coming at a time where the Red Bulls are competing for the top of the Eastern Conference.

Mike Grella, Gonzalo Verรณn and Derrick Etienne Jr. can be options off the bench to replace Royer for upcoming games.
