Red Bulls Roundup: No streaming of final Diamond Cup Match, Solli, Arteaga, Academy call-ups

Petke FraserIf you are waiting to catch the final New York Red Bulls preseason match on stream, you will be sorely disappointed.

Tonight’s third place Desert Diamond Cup showdown against the New England Revolution will not be streamed or televised. To catch any of the action, Red Bull fans will have to follow the teams offisial Twitter feed @NewYorkRedBulls.

There is a lot on the line for guest players and trialists this evening. Peguy Luyindula, Rafhael “Rafhina” Domingues, Marius Obekop, Tyler Ruthven, Ryan Clark and Andrew Ribiero are all without contract with a little over a week until the team’s first game of the season at Portland. The Red Bulls currently have 24 of a possible 30 roster spots filled and will likely carry some of those openings into the season for further reinforcements.

Who will make the cut? That is yet to be seen, but Head Coach Mike Petke has already labeled this a last chance for the aspiring club players to step up.

Here are a few more notes around Red Bull land:

  • In other news, former Red Bulls defender/midfielder Jan Gunnar Solli has finally latched on with a club back in his native Norway. Solli joins Valerenga. The Red Bulls’ fan favorite was released November 15th, 2012.
  • Another former Red Bull has also found a home. Jhonny Arteaga returns to the USL Pro, this time with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
  • U.S. U-17 coach Richie Williams added a pair of Red Bull Academy players to his roster. Midfielder Christopher Lema and forward Wesley Wade will travel with the team for a week-long trip to Panama City, Panama from February 23rd through March 1.
