The New York Red Bulls will host historic Liga MX side Club America at Red Bull Arena in July for a summer friendly.

The match between the New York Red Bulls and Club America is set to take place on Wednesday, July 6, at 8 p.m. ET in Harrison.

This friendly will occur only three days after the Red Bulls’ crucial New York City Derby match against NYCFC, suggesting that New York will most likely field a reserve side in their friendly against America. Like last season, the match will be a terrific opportunity for Red Bulls’ reserve players to shine against difficult opposition, much like last season’s shocking win against Premier League winners Chelsea FC.

Club America is a vaunted Mexican side who have won back-to-back CONCACAF Champions League titles. The historic Liga MX is set to celebrate their 100th season in this year’s 2016/17 campaign. In America’s long history, they have won seven CONCACAF Champions League titles, 12 modern era league titles in Mexico, and has competed in the FIFA Club World Cup and CONMEBOL’s Copa Libertadores.
