Red Bulls to Play Vancouver in CCL Quarterfinals



The 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League group stage is now complete and the New York Red Bulls will play the Vancouver Whitecaps in the quarterfinals.

The Whitecaps finished at the top of the knockout rounds, giving them home field advantage — as long as they remain in the tournament. The Red Bulls will host the Whitecaps in the first leg of the round between February 21st and 23rd. Both teams won their groups and were seeded against each other by their ranking, which takes points achieved as the decider, with goal differential as a tie-breaker.

Should New York advance past Vancouver, they will play the winner of Tigres UANL and Pumas UNAM.

New York went undefeated in the CCL group stage and will have their season start a bit earlier than usual in 2017 due to the February fixtures. They will also qualify for the 2017-18 competition this weekend barring a major shakeup in the standings.
