Red Bulls U.S. Open Cup Path Set

NYCFC Red Bulls fans clash

The New York Red Bulls’ path in the U.S. Open Cup could begin with the a road encounter against the USL champions.

The schedule for the fourth round of U.S. Open Cup competition was announced Thursday afternoon, revealing an interesting scenario for the Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls are scheduled to take on the winner of the June 1 match between Lansdowne Bhoys and the Rochester Rhinos. The Rhinos are the defending USL champions. Lansdowne, meanwhile, are a Yonkers based amateur side – and a two time defending Cosmopolitan Soccer League champion as well. Adding to the danger of Lansdowne, they beat USL side Pittsburgh Riverhounds to advance in the tournament.

If the Rhinos win, they will host the Red Bulls. If Lansdowne win, the Red Bulls will play host against the CSL champs. The match will take place on June 15.

The Red Bulls beat the New York Cosmos at Red Bull Arena last season before losing to the Philadephia Union in the following round. New York have never won an Open Cup.

So an amateur team from Yonkers went to Pittsburgh and beat a USL Pro Team in their house?

That’s what I call getting it done!

By the way, I can’t believe red bull soda won’t offer $$$$$$$$$ zlatan.
It’s New York, as long he has the spot light and money and maybe an underground marketing contract with red bull, zlatan would be super happy.
Tfc can also trade jozy to red bull and open space for zlatan at tfc.
Something has to be brewing but MLS has cheap owners.
    Make it happen MLS……
