It’s deja vu in the NWSL as regular season champs Seattle Reign FC book their place in the finals against FC Kansas City.

Both Seattle and Kansas City enjoyed 3-0 victories on Sunday to lock their place in the championship match. Beverly Yanez, Megan Rapinoe and Mariah Bullock scored in the final 19 minutes of their match to put away a dangerous Washington Spirit side. Likewise, Kansas City stormed to victory over Chicago thanks to an Amy Rodriguez brace and Erika Tymrak goal. Kansas City scored all three goals in the opening 35 minutes, coasting towards the Finals encounter.

It is worth noting: Rodriguez also managed a brace in the NWSL 2014 Finals to take the championship over Seattle.

The encounter will bring several national team talents from the U.S. World Championship side to the fold. Seattle count Hope Solo and Rapinoe amongst their standout players, while FCKC boasts Lauren Holiday, Becky Sauerbrunn, Heather O’Reilly and Amy Rodriguez in their mix.

There will also be some history to settle as well. Seattle and Kansas City met in last year’s final; a match that fell 2-1 in favor of Kansas City. This year, the final match will be played October 1st at Providence Park in Portland, allowing for a heavy presence from Reign fans thanks to the proximity of neighboring Seattle.
