Report: USMNT going black for home 2016 jerseys

2016 Black USMNT kit

From stripes to hoops to sashes and — of course — denim, the U.S. Men’s National Team has always endured an identity crisis when it comes to their kits.

Next year will be no different.

According to, the foremost source on soccer kits worldwide, the U.S. will debut an all-black home uniform for the 2016 campaign. The new shirt will once again be a product of long-time U.S. jersey supplier Nike. According to FH, the shirt will feature “blue and red accents” and will also feature the re-branded USSF crest on the left breast.

It is the first time the U.S. has gone black for their home kit. Past offerings have played off variations of red, white and blue designs.

All black jersey, new badge… I am so down for this, I hate the current badge it looks like something that got stuck in 1996.

Fitting for a team dead from the neck up. :-(

The black jersey is so done. Hell, it was played out when the Brooklyn Nets did it. Tiresome and unoriginal.

  • Totally apropos for the time and for the foreseeable future

Am I the only who thinks the new crest looks worst than the current one? The new crest looks very old, generic, plain ugly. Am I the only who sees this? And to makes things even worst, let’s throw a black kit with it… That Indian president of the U.S.S.F guy is really messing sh*t up.

Usually the name and logo of the Football organisation stands on the international team jersey. So why is the US using the ugly USA logo? Maybe the USSF should have changed and updated its logo?

So you’re going to put yourself at a disadvantage by having a hot black jersey in the middle of the summer for the Copa America tourney and WCQ’s???? Smart, real smart.
