Following his stellar Man of the Match performance in the United States’ 1-0 win against Paraguay, it is no wonder John Brook is being eyed by some of Europe’s top clubs.

The latest rumor coming out of the English press reports that Manchester City officials attended the U.S vs. Paraguay Copa America encounter in search of new talent. However, the Citizens’ scouts wouldn’t have to search too hard for their main target due to John Brook‘s impeccable performance.

The Hertha Berlin center back, along with Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron, has created one of the most dominant defensive walls in the Copa competition. Brooks has been the catalyst behind the United States’ success, denying any opposition to score a simple goal. Furthermore, the 23-year-old has been a star standout in this summer’s tournament, winning every aerial duel and tackle, causing scouts to drool at the chance of acquiring him.

A move to England would be glamorous for the German native, with Manchester City’s newest boss Pep Guardiola knowing all about the 23-year-old from his time in the Bundesliga.

Although Manchester City has watched Brooks in his finest — and could potentially want the defender — a move to England may seem like a far stretch. During his 2015/16 season with Hertha Berlin, Brooks signed a contract extension with the Bundesliga side that will keep him in Berlin until 2019. Even though Manchester City could match his buy-out clause, it is unlikely, but not impossible, for a player to leave his side just after an extension.

Wow, if this happens, then 15 years from now Brooks can come play for NYCFC, make $6m a year and get injured and never play. Sounds awesome, can’t wait!

It’s a done deal. I already signed the paperwork. See you in 15 years, my friend.
