Former New York Red Bull defender Roy Miller may be making his way back to MLS with the Portland Timbers

According to the Costa Rican media outlet Teletica, Miller is an offseason target for the 2015 MLS champions. Miller left the New York Red Bulls after the 2015 season and has been playing for the Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa.

Miller, 32, played for the New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2015, making a total of 125 appearances. He was an important part of their 2013 Supporters Shield win with 17 appearances. In 2014 he made 24 appearances as the team went to the Eastern Conference Final, coming within one goal of making the MLS Cup Final.

For Portland, Miller would be a much needed addition to their defense. He is a player familiar with MLS and has the experience to help Portland return to playoff form after failing to make the cut in 2016.

Miller isn’t the only player that Portland is interested in acquiring. The same report named defensive midfielder David Guzman from Saprissa as another Timbers target.
