New York Red Bulls may be looking to Europe for an additional striker – and Emmanuel Emenike’s name is circulating.

The Fenerbahce striker has turned down the chance to leave for several other European nations and appears set on coming to the United States.

Emenike has been with Fenerbahce since 2013, with recent loans to Al Ain and West Ham United sprinkled into his tenure. He’s scored 26 goals while helping the Turkish side to two Super Lig titles. He has also made 37 appearances with the Nigerian national team, tallying nine goals since 2011. Emenike could be the second striker option New York has been looking for, unless Gonzalo Veron is still seen as a potential filler. The 29-year old has a world of experience across Europe and may find a home in New York’s high press offense.

The Red Bulls aren’t the only team involved in the chase. There are three other MLS sides being rumored to make a move for the Nigerian. However, the mention of New York could be an indication of where the player and team interest is at the moment. While not exactly in line with the team’s new youth-movement directive, Emenike is still under 30 and could be very useful to Jesse Marsch for more than a few years.
