Could this be Frank Lampard’s replacement at New York City FC?

According to DH.be, a Belgian news site, NYCFC has submitted a bid to sign RSC Anderlecht midfielder and Senegalese international Stéphane Diarra Badji.

The report suggests that Patrick Vieira made a last minute bid for the 26-year-old before the European transfer window closed. Due to North America’s transfer window extending into February, New York still has the chance to sign Badji. The Senegalese international is reported to be pushing the move after being told that he has “no longer use” to Anderlecht head coach Rene Weiler.

Badji joined the Belgian side in 2016 and has made 24 appearances for the club since his arrival. The midfielder has floated around Europe for the last five years, signing with clubs from Norway, Turkey, and Belgium.

The midfielder has also appeared for his country at the national level. Badji has played in 16 matches for his country at the senior level as well as participated in Senegal’s 2012 Summer Olympics run.
