Rogers’ Revenge: USL Suspends OCB Player Over Homophobic Comments

The USL has suspended Orange County Blues FC player Richard Chaplow for two games and fined him an undisclosed amont of money in relation to abusive language used against LA Galaxy’s Player Robbie Rogers.

“The USL has zero tolerance for this type of behavior,” said USL president Jake Edwards. “We cannot, nor will we, condone any language that is counter to the values we have instilled throughout the USL.”

The incident took place on Saturday when Robbie Rogers made a rehab start for the LA Galaxy II. A verbal altercation took place on the field between Rogers and Chaplow where homophobic language was used in the heat of the moment. The incident became apparaent following the game as Rogers posted a lengthy message on social media.

USL and MLS quickly moved in to investigate the situation. Referees, players and staff for both teams were interviewed regarding the incident. The punishment was dealt out accordingly following the findings.
