Rubio Rubin

Danish club Silkeborg IF has announced that they have signed United States Men’s National Team member Rubio Rubin from Dutch side FC Utrecht in a deadline-day transfer.

The 20-year-old will be under contract with Silkeborg until the end of the current season.

A native of Oregon, Rubin had joined Uetrecht’s academy in 2013, where he quickly earned a spot with the first team. Once with the senior side, Rubin made 41 appearances with the club before being shut out of the first team due to lack of goals. The United States striker was sent to the Uetrecht’s B Team, Jong FC Uetrecht, where he made six appearances and zero goals.

“We were aware of Rubio Rubin when he was released in FC Utrecht. I have subsequently sought info on him, including spoken with the US national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann, who has recommended him. Rubin’s attack and can also play on the edge, and that is the position we have been searching for a player,” explains Silkeborg IF head coach Peter Sorensen.

“We know that he has a high level. He has been through the battles on the US national team and in the Dutch Honor Division. And he is still young, says Peter Sørensen.”
