Rumored NYCFC target Frank Lampard to make club decision “very shortly”

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard continues to be linked with a move towards New York City F.C. this summer.

Whether that comes to pass will be known soon enough. Lampard spoke to Sky Sports, telling the outlet that his decision on a new club is coming shortly.

“At the moment, I have got a few options,” he said. “There is no exclusive, but I will be making a decision very shortly.”

The 36-year-old midfielder ended his 13-year association with Chelsea last month. He is coming fresh off of an unsuccessful World Cup run with England where he earned his 106th cap for the Three Lions. That is just another notch in his illustrious career, which includes three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, a Euro win and a UEFA trophy. He is also Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 211 goals throughout all competitions.

English tabloid the Daily Mail reported last week that a deal between NYCFC and Lampard was already reached. That agreement happened in late May. Like their first star signing, David Villa, Lampard would be loaned over to Melbourne City of the A-League for half a season, returning to New York in January to join the club.
