The New York Cosmos have been looking for an attack minded player to open up their offense.

Enter, Andres Flores.

The Cosmos have signed Flores, 23, on loan from El Salvadorian club Turín-FESA.

“We’re delighted to have added Andrés Flores to our squad.” head coach and technical director Giovanni Savarese said in a club statement. “He’s a young player with lots of international experience and potential. His pace and skill will add another dimension to our attack and gives us more options on the forward line.”

Flores is an El Salvadorian international with 31 caps to his name. He was a fixture in the 2013/14 Isidro Metapan side, taking part in both their 2013 and 2014 Apertura championships. A youth product from Argentina’s River Plate system, Flores moved to his native El Salvador to begin his professional career. After a successful campaign in 2011/12, he moved on to Viborg FF of the Danish league.

Injuries sidelined the midfielder, allowing him only to appear in one league match and four Cup encounters. Despite his inability to make a first team impact, he still managed two goals in his Danish Cup appearances.

He returned to Metapan last season, earning 24 starts in 33 appearances, and scoring five goals.

Flores brings the Cosmos versatility in attack. A speedy threat at 5’7″, the El Salvadorian international can plug in on either wing and can play the foil at forward alongside target man, Mads Stokkelien.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Cosmos,” Flores said. “It’s a championship-winning squad with a lot of quality players, but I’m here to try and help the team and ready for a new challenge.”
