Late Friday evening — and just under 48 hours before their season opener at Yankee Stadium — New York City FC announced a change to their ticket policy.

NYCFC will follow suit with a new New York Yankees initiative, eliminating the usage of PDF, print-at-home tickets in an effort to “eliminate fraud” and introducing a mobile ticketing system that is said to “ease” the use of tickets amongst fans.

This announcement comes shortly after NYCFC’s Fan Services denied any pending move to mobile ticketing:

Due to the immediate action and short notice of this mobile endeavor, NYCFC have released a litany of rules and directions to guide fans through the transition. In order to properly inform our readers, here is the entire list of directions issued by NYCFC (for the full announcement, click here):

While we work towards this solution, City Members who have purchased prior to April 1, 2016  will continue to have access to transfer their tickets via print-at-home while we implement the policy.

Specifically, in order to assist fans who  are already in possession of PDFs for the home opener on Sunday, March 13, New York City FC will be verifying PDFs prior to entering Yankee Stadium.  The NYCFC verification process will take place in front of  all Main Yankee Stadium Gates, namely:

  • Gate 2
  • Gate 4
  • Gate 6
  • Gate 8
  • Suite Entrance Lobby, located adjacent to Gate 4 for fans with premium tickets (Luxury Suites, Outdoor Suite Boxes, Pitchside seats, Legends, Champions and Delta SKY360 Suite seats, Audi Yankees Club and Budweiser Hall of Fame seats)

Once the PDFs have been verified by New York City FC, fans will thereafter be able to proceed through the magnetometers and present their NYCFC verified tickets to a Yankee Stadium ticket taker.

City Members and group accounts can transfer their Seasoncard or traditional hard stock paper ticket to a mobile ticket by logging on to the “My Account Manager” at nycfc.com/myaccount and clicking “manage my tickets”

  • Note: for security purposes, the ticket verification (QR code) on mobile tickets will not appear until 48 hours before a game’s scheduled start time.
  • Fans can still freely transfer their mobile tickets at any time prior to or after the verification (QR code) appears, but not after entering Yankee Stadium. Accordingly, we strongly recommend that you transfer to each member of your party his/her individual ticket via mobile, prior to entering Yankee Stadium.

Single game buyers can convert their traditional hard stock paper ticket to a mobile ticket by logging on to your Ticketmaster account at m.ticketmaster.com via your Smartphone.
