
Let the rivalry continue!
Last we left these two clubs, a massive contingent of Philadelphia Union supporters traveled into Red Bull Arena and took the north deck under siege, only to witness the home side hold on to a 1-0 victory off of a Faryd Mondragon own goal (or was it a Dane Richards header?).
This afternoon, it will be a Mother’s Day melee as PPL Park hosts the first of three encounters between these sides this season. For the Red Bulls, PPL has been an unforgiving place as they have dropped both of their matches at the stadium all-time. Even so, New York is riding a three game shutout streak into the match on the back’s of an inspired patchwork defense. The Union have been offensively inept this season and are coming off a heart breaking road loss to the Sounders.
