Terrence Boyd joins Darmstadt 98 on permanent deal

After a few months without knowledge of where he would end up, United States Men’s National Team forward Terrence Boyd has officially joined Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98 on a permanent deal lasting until June 2018.

The 25-year-old forward spent his last two years with Bundesliga heavyweights RB Leipzig, who frequently shut the striker out of the first team due to injuries. Since arriving in 2014, Boyd had made seven appearances for the first team, scoring two goals. Due to lingering injuries, Boyd was demoted to the club’s second team (RB Leipzig II). While with the reserve side, the U.S. International appeared in nine matches and scored five goals.

Boyd will be joining Darmstadt 98, a German club on the fringe of being relegated from the country’s first division, the Bundesliga. The Lilies have nine points in 17 Bundesliga matches this season, placing the German side at the bottom of the standings – seven points deep into the relegation zone.
