New York City FC will lose their first round draft pick in next month’s SuperDraft as a condition to the Kwadwo Poku trade.

NYCFC traded a conditional draft pick to the Seattle Sounders for Poku when it acquired him from the Atlanta Silverbacks. Poku had been on trial with the Sounders before appearing on City’s radar which forced them to trade for his MLS rights before signing him. Since Poku was sold for $700,000, NYCFC will have to give their first round pick, the 16th overall.

Sounders general manager Gareth Lagerway told reporters Friday that they held two first round picks but did not clarify the source of their second pick. EoS made a request for official confirmation but it has been unanswered. The MLS website notes that the Sounders now hold that pick.

NYCFC still hold the 38th pick in the Second Round and the 54th and 60th picks in the Third Round.
