Thierry Henry joins Belgium coaching staff

by ANTHONY J. MERCED

Former Arsenal and New York Red Bulls legend Thierry Henry has joined the Belgian National team as an assistant coach to Roberto Martinez.

“He’s someone that has been in the sitaution of having to develop a mentality as a team to chase the dream of winning something special,” said manager Roberto Martinez who took over in Belgium after the disappointing results in Euro 2016.

Henry had been working with Arsenal’s under-18 team but left the club after his role as a TV pundit was expanded. According to Martinez, Henry¬†was “very keen” to join his staff, believing he could help get the best out of The Red Devils’ strikers.

Henry’s response through Twitter was short, simply claiming he was “honoured” by the opportunity. Both he and Roberto Martinez will have an opportunity to show off their ability on the international stage as the Belgian National Team plays Spain on September 1st in a friendly fixture.

This article isn’t about the Cosmos and I can’t think of anything that this even relates to the Cosmos. Next post, please.
