New York released the names of their training camp participants, including thirteen trialists vying for as many as six potential spots within the Red Bull’s roster.
Here are the participants:
Jhonny Arteaga, F, 25; The Colombian striker was the USL Pro’s top goal scorer of 2011 while playing for FC New York. He also scored a pair of goals in reserve action as a guest player for New York last season.
Quame Holder, M, 23; The Trinidadian holding midfielder turned heads against New York during last seasons US Open clash. A former RBNY U-23 player, Holder was regarded as one of the top prospects in FC New York’s playing field.
Giorgi Chirgadze, F, 21; The Red Bulls first ever homegrown signing, Chirgadze was released by New York under mutual consent for personal reasons.
Jose Angulo, F, 24; The pride of St. Benedict’s High School and a former prospect of the Metro Academy, Angulo returns to his roots after a long struggle that saw him fail to find a home in Europe, sending him through the lower leagues of the US Soccer pyramid.
Tom Williams, D, 31; A journeyman in every sense of the word, Williams has played for 14 teams over 13 years throughout the leagues of English football.
Tyler Ruthven, D, 23; A University of South Carolina product, Ruthven, a 6’2″ centerback, last played for the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL.
Joseph Niouky, M, 25; The Senegalese midfielder last featured for New England in 2010.
John Tardy, D, 21; The 5’6″ Staten Island native is a product of the Red Bull Academy. He was also a part of the US U15-18 player pool.
Ryan Maduro, M, 25; The Providence College product played with the Red Bull reserves last year. He’s 5’10″, a former US U-20 player, listed as an attacking midfielder and holds dual US/Portuguese citizenship.
Willis Forko, D, 28; If depth needs to be addressed at left back, this could be your man. Forko played for Salt Lake and the Whitecaps before going to Bodø/Glimt in Norway.
Aaron King, F, 27; A career USL/NASL product, King found his scoring touch with FC Tampa Bay over the past two seasons, scoring 21 goals in 56 appearances.
Danijel Kosovac, M, 22; Listed as an attacking midfielder, the Swiss playmaker plied his trade within the FC Basel and Real Zaragoza systems but never broke the first team.
Semso Nikocevic, M, 24; Listed at 5’5″, Semso was known as a playmaker for St. Francis College, joining the pool of central attacking midfielders on trial this year.
It is also worth noting that recently rumored trialist Victor Palsson, 21, is not listed with the team. He is currently traveling through England in preparation for an eventual move overseas.

Its “Dual” citizenship/ Duel American/Portugese citizenship conjures a lot of images of someone shooting a mirror at dawn.
You have no idea the WAR I have with that word on a daily basis. Thanks for the heads up brother.
DMart: Lets see who we have lined up to start so far.
Top: Henry and Cooper
Mid: Taino, Lindpere, Richards, ??
Back: Miller, Solli, Holgersson, Marquez
My thoughts, I still do not see Marquez as a central midfielder, not with Taino. Marquez should play right behind Taino. My ?? marks above, that is exactly what NYRB is missing…a PLAYMAKER.
Get rid of Dax and Mehdi please.
Here is my take:

Hola Mi Favorito,
This was seriously LOL…….I didn’t get the “duel” part at first !!!!
Big hug to the wife and adorable bambina….future #9 of USA,
Marta in Miami and #17
P.S. That spectacular Colombian (still #22 on the all time goals scored in MLS History List) is back from winter training in Medellin, and soooooo very ready to go…will keep ya informed…he can STILL bring it !!!
Thank you Marta, much appreciated.
I wish they had figured out how to implement DeRosario. I can only hope the Red Bull tacticians have learned from their mistakes and will use Cooper effectively. I’ve never seen him as a particularly great goal scorer but he is very good at creating space. He can pull the ball out wide, drawing defenders and create space for Titi and Richards to run in and strike.
As for Marquez I am looking forward to him playing in midfield. Number 1- he Wants to play there. That’s a big plus for me. No question he is a great DM. He had several assists last year from that space on the field. And i expect we will see plenty more this year. Number 2 – Backed up by Conde, he should be very comfortable playing in front of the back line.
Tainio? Not sure. Maybe see him in front of Marquez as a modern CM in a tight diamond. Or maybe he plays on the left? Lindpere is question mark right?
I think it would be a mistake to let Agudelo leave, however it would be even worse to play him as little as he played last year. He has the makings of a dangerous winger as well as CF. I vote he stays and plays.
Love the site Dave ! It’s really evolving and looks great
