Red Bulls offer details of their training facility expansion

Red Bull Training Facility Hanover NK

HANOVER, NJ – Months after having their plans approved by the Township, the New York Red Bulls are finally revealing their training facility expansion plans.

“We are pleased to announce the expansion of Red Bull Training Facility,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh. “Building top player development infrastructure is one of our club’s key priorities and this is another major step in achieving that goal. Our academy and training programs will greatly benefit from this development.”

The two-part process includes the construction of a new training facility and a 4,000 square foot building.  The Red Bulls will start of with the aforementioned erection of a new training facility, which will include two team locker rooms, a multipurpose weight and cardio area, a treatment room, exam room, coach and staff lockers, lavatories for both men and women and other miscellaneous areas.  This half of the project is projected to be completed by April of next year.

Part two will include a 3,500 square foot addition to the building, improvements to their turf field and the preparation of a fourth full length soccer field on premises.

“We’re excited to see one of the top training facilities in the country continue to expand and provide our athletes with first-class amenities,” said Director of Youth Programs Bob Montgomery. “As one of Major League Soccer’s leading Academy systems, this expansion plan will only help us as we continue to develop young talent in the tri-state area.”

Part of the goal in constructing this extension was, as Roxburgh said, to give the Academy a home.  It also, however, leaves the Red Bulls wiggle room if they decide to pursue an independent USL Pro side in the coming years.  The club eschewed that notion earlier this year, but the infrastructure for such a project will be readily available if pursued.

Red Bulls/Metrostars have a great history of finding and developing great talent. Hopefully these expansions help them recognize that talent sooner and keep them longer.
