download-1The United States youth national team moved closer to advancing from the first round of the FIFA U-17 World Cup after its 1-0 victory over Ghana on Monday in New Delhi, India.

The American team leads Group A with six points from two victories and can clinch advancement with either a win or a draw in its final group stage match, against Colombia on Tuesday (10:30 a.m. Eastern, Fox Sports 2 and Universo).

Playing with a man advantage after a player for Ghana was injured and unable to continue after the African team had already used its three substitutes, the U.S. grabbed the league on a goal in the 75th minute from Ayo Akinola.

The Group A winner will advance to the knockout stage against a third-place finisher from Groups C, D or E.
