New York City FC look to be on the verge of announcing the signing of yet another striker.

According to FC Union Berlin, Slovakian international Adam Nemec is packing his bags for the Big Apple.

Nemec, 29, has been a part of the 2.Bundesliga side for three season, making 64 appearances and scoring 14 goals in that timespan.  His playing time this season, however, has diminished, with the burly striker making all of five appearances for his club. An apparent breakdown in negotiations has opened the door for a jump stateside.

“These past weeks have been difficult, and I am glad that we have now found a solution,” Nemec said in a FC-Union-Berlin.de statement. “I’ll walk away with a few bad experiences, but also very good memories. In my time at Union, I managed to return to the national team, with whom I absolutely want to go to the European Championships. To this end, I have to be playing, and now I have the chance.”

“It is a pity that cooperation has not worked as both sides had imagined,” Union manager Norbert Düwel added. “Under these circumstances, it is better to part ways. I wish Adam all the best and much success in New York.”

Club business manager Nico Schafer also added his best wishes for Nemec in New York to conclude the statement.

Once made official, Nemec becomes the fifth striker signed by the club.  He follows in the footsteps of forwards Patrick Mullins, Tony Taylor, Khiry Shelton and Designated Player, David Villa.

New York City FC have not commented on the signing at the time of this report.
