Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis has been ruled out of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup after suffering a knee injury.

As a result, Jurgen Klinsmann has called defender Greg Garza into camp. Garza is currently on loan from Tijuana to Club Atlas. Since making his debut on the United States Men’s National Team in 2014, the Texan has earned seven caps.

The substitution of a defender for a midfielder may signal a shift in tactics for the Stars and Stripes. While the original 23 hinted at the potential use of a 3-5-2 formation, the addition of Garza may indicate Klinsmann’s reliance on the traditional 4-4-2.

The United States final tune-up before the tournament is on Friday against Guatemala. Kickoff in Nashville is set for 6:30 pm. The match can be seen on Fox Sports 1 and Univision.
