Christian Pulisic is the guy you wish you were in high school.

Two weeks ago with the United States near the end of preparation for the Copa America Centenario, the 17-year-old was forced to have a conversation with manager Jurgen Klinsmann. No, it wasn’t about playing time or his role with the team.

It was about going to his high school prom back in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

As first reported by Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl, Klinsmann granted Pulisic permission to go to prom. But that was hardly the end of the story.

With permission from the boss secured, figuring out the logistics of getting from Kansas City to Hershey, and back, became the next issue to deal with. To make matters worse, prom just happened to be the night before the Stars and Stripes final tune-up match against Bolivia.

With time at a premium, a commercial flight would not allow for the Dortmund starlet to make it to Pennsylvania and back.

So what is a teenage, professional footballer to do?

Hire a private plane of course!

With the obligatory pictures taken and prom in the books, Pulisic got back on the plane and returned to Kansas City for what proved to be a historic second leg of the journey.

May have missed a few school days but made it to senior prom #tbt

The following night, Pulisic became the youngest player ever to score for the USMNT in the 69th minute. The goal put the exclamation mark on his previous 48 hours and the Americans 4-0 thrashing of Bolivia.
