Wondering what the US Women’s National Team is up to after winning the World Cup? So glad you asked. There’s a lot going on, so hang in there.

The Victory Tour

The USWNT is touring the United States throughout the end of the summer and into fall, playing a total of ten international friendly matches in front of massive crowds. For now, the squad remains the same as in the World Cup, but there is significant speculation that Coach Jill Ellis will bring in new faces during the tour’s later matches in order to choose the roster for the 2016 Olympics.

The US has played two Victory Tour matches already, trouncing Costa Rica in each of them: 8-0 in Pittsburgh, PA and 7-2 in Chattanooga, TN. The first match set a USWNT friendly attendance record of 44,028, and the second marked Tobin Heath‘s 100th cap with the national team.

The absolute blowouts against the Ticas were replete with memorable moments, from the indisputable return of Heather O’Reilly‘s “HAO Game Face” accompanying the two goals she’s scored in each match to Meghan Klingenberg netting a goal in her hometown of Pittsburgh and waving a terrible towel to celebrate.

In what is sure to be a far more competitive pair of matches than the openers against Costa Rica, the USWNT will face Australia on September 17th and September 20th in Detroit, MI and Birmingham, AL respectively. These are followed by another row of matches on October 21st and October 25th against Brazil in Seattle, WA and Orlando, FL. The remaining four matches have not yet been announced.
