David Villa scored twice for the second consecutive match to lift New York City FC to a 2–0 win against the Houston Dynamo Friday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Repeating last week, NYCFC scored off of a well-worked corner. Jack Harrison played short to Andrea Pirlo who found Villa at the top of the area. Villa took a heavy touch but turned and raced to meet the ball near the byline and fire a finish into the far-side netting.

City kept the Dynamo without a shot on target but were bailed out in 73rd minute when Raul Rodriguez had an open look inside the area but hit the post. Tony Taylor took advantage of the Dynamo pushing for an equalizer and led a counterattack that ended with Villa powering his finish from the top of the area in second half stoppage time.

Villa now has 21 goals to lead the Golden Boot race and City now lead the Eastern Conference with 51 points after 32 matches. Their next match is Oct. 7 against Club Necaxa in a friendly. They return to MLS action Oct. 16 at D.C. United.
